Well, today Wesley had an MRI, and it turns out its not as bad as first feared. Here is what the club doctors came across:
"After the practiced nuclear magnetic resonance in today by the medical services of Real Madrid, to the player Wesley Sneijder, one confirms the injury of the Internal Lateral Ligament and the integrity of the Ligament Previous Cruzado, reason why with orthopaedic treatment and of rehabilitation esteem that the time of loss will be approximately of 3 months.
3 Months! Of course he wont be truely in fit and ready to roll until late Novemeber, but that may be a much needed boost to the squad by then. His ACL is fine, he has a lesion on his ILL, which is not that bad. I was fearing the worst, that he may be out until the last few months of the campaign, and what a blow that would be to loose one of your best players before the season starts.
While he is out, we know that Guti’s inconsitency may come more in to focus, but my hope is that wont be a problem. Because we now have Rafeal van der Vaart, and we have De la Red back too. Im not to worried about it actually after this great news. Calderon had this to say:
"We are very upset about Sneijder’s injury,’ he said. ‘It’s serious and it’s the worst news we could have. He has, at the very least, torn his interior ligament. He is very bad, very upset. He is crying because it is a very serious problem and very painful. He is a very important footballer for us but that’s sport. We feel bad for him. He had bad luck. We will monitor Sneijder’s progress intently of course, but look on the bright side, it isnt an ACL tear."
By the time Sneijder gets ready by November then he might be facing a probelm to get back into the starting XI. Coz Van der Vaart will be holding onto the position very well. Now Ruben de la Red opportunity were blown out a bit after signing the Van der Vaart. If not then Ruben would have got the chance to grab the Sneijder's place.
