Serie Week 10 Wrapup

2-3 REGGINA v INTER MILAN

A last minute goal from Cardoba set Inter to stay at top of the table after basement side Reggina had shocked Inter with comeback at Stadio Oreste Granillo. Inter firmy established two goal lead in the first half from Maicon and Vieira but eventually Reggina's Francesco Cozza and Franco Brienza hit back to highten the prospect of an upset. However Cardoba gave Inter a victory in stoppage time. Now Reggina remain rooted to the bottom of the table after recording their seventh defeat in 10 games this season. Ricardo Quaresma did return for Inter and Vieira was handed a start in the centre of midfield by Mourinho. Mourinho's Reggina counterpart, Nevio Orlandi, also made changes with Bruno Cirillo returning to the defence after a ban with Francesco Cozza and Franco Brienza recalled.

2-0 JUVENTUS v AS ROMA

When Juventus defeats Roma this took Juve to fifth spot in the Serie A table and it leave Roma struggling just above the bottom three. Del Piero scored the stunning set piece in the 38th minute and providing the second goal for Marco Marchionni three minutes into the second half. That was enough to make it four wins in a row for Claudio Ranieri's side, leaving Roma reeling on the back of five successive defeats and their coach Luciano Spalletti fearing for his job. Roma arrived in Turin without their captain Francesco Totti, whose knee is still causing him problems, but Julio Baptista was back from injury.

0-0 ATALANTA v US LECCE

Atalanta held on for a point against Lecce on Sunday despite playing with 10 men for the final 23 minutes. The visitors dominated for long periods against their Bergamo-based hosts but were unable to conjure up a winner. Their hopes were raised when Atalanta had Jaime Valdes sent-off midway through the second half but a late Lecce onslaught failed to result in a much-needed goal. Neither side had managed a win in midweek so the pressure was on to take maximum points here.

5-0 CAGLIARI v FC BOLOGNA

A brace from Aquafresca and Neves Capucho Jeda as Cagliari continued their resurgence in form with a home thrashing of Bologna. Cagliari recorded their first point of the season three weeks ago by holding AC Milan to a goalless draw and then notched back-to-back wins at Torino and against Chievo. First Cagliari were goal down to Marco Di Vaio's 18th-minute opener. Acquafresca equalised on the stroke of half-time and Daniele Conti put Cagliari ahead three minutes into the second half, before Acquafresca extended the lead with his second four minutes later. Jeda then added a fourth in the 69th minute and completed the rout with a diving header late on.

1-0 SS LAZIO v CATANIA CALCIO

Five minutes from time substitute Pasquale Foggia core the goal for Lazio to end Catania's stubborn resistence. Foggia converted a pass from Mauro Zarate with five minutes remaining as Lazio's incessant pressure finally told. It had looked like turning into a frustrating afternoon for the Rome-based side as keeper Albano Bizzarri, aided by some last-ditch defending and wayward finishing, kept them at bay. While Lazio have the league leaders firmly in their sights, Catania have now not won in three games and their fine start to the campaign is in danger of petering out. The visitors had only conceded seven goals in nine games going into the encounter and it was easy to see why as their backline withstood wave after wave of attack.

3-0 PALERMO v CHIEVO VERONA

First half three goals gave Palermo to track back when they took only a point from the last three games. Fabrizio Miccoli opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute and Simon Kjaer added a second in the 37th minute before Edison Cavani's goal on the stroke of half-time. Palermo had Mark Bresciano dismissed in the 48th minute for a second bookable offence but it did little to help Chievo.

1-0 UC SAMPDORIA v TORINO

Five minutes from time Claudio Bellucci scored to sccure all the three points for Samp. This is their second win in seven days, and they left Torino behind them at the wrong end of the Serie A table. Torino had a goal disallowed in the 60th minute and had a good claim for a penalty turned down as they lost their sixth game of the season to remain just above the relegation zone, but they can take heart from the fact they outplayed their opponents for long spells of the game.

1-0 SIENA v AC FIORENTINA

14 minutes from time Siena sealed a narrow win over Fiorentina from Houssine Kharja goal. This win propelled Siena away from the relegation zone. Striker Giampaolo Pazzini, who came in for the suspended Alberto Gilardino, claimed Fiorentina were out for revenge prior to kick off after a 1-0 defeat in the derby last season. But Fiorentina were to rue the absence of Gilardino as they failed to capitalise on the few chances they had and eventually lost to the same margin as last season. The defeat, Fiorentina's third of the season, meant they lost ground on the Serie A leaders and slip to eighth, while Siena opened up a five-point gap from the relegation zone in 12th place.

2-2 UDINESE CALCIO v GENOA

Udinese, joint Serie A leaders with Napoli going into this weekend's fixtures, made the perfect start when Gaetano D'Agostino fired them in front from the penalty spot in the fourth minute.
Handanovic was in superb form to keep Genoa at bay but was finally beaten shortly after the hour mark by Diego Milito's spot-kick and the visitors took the lead three minutes later thanks to substitute Giuseppe Sculli. However, a Fabio Quagliarella volley in the 78th minute ensured Udinese maintained their excellent home record. Either side could have won it at the end but both had to settle for a deserved point, although Genoa will be the more disappointed as they had the lion's share of chances and are still seeking their first away win.

1-0 AC MILAN v NAPOLI

Milan is the Serie A leader when they beat Napoli by 1-0 when Napoli's German Denis gave a own goal and send Milan to the top of Serie A for the first time since May 2004. Carlo Ancelotti's side dominated the second half but looked as though they had squandered the chance to climb to the summit when Kaka missed an 84th-minute penalty. But there was still time for Denis to head into his own net to spark jubilant scenes at the San Siro. The explosive ending was in stark contrast to a low-key start. It was a cruel way to lose after a solid defensive display from Paulo Cannavaro and Fabiano Santacroce went without reward and Napoli left the San Siro empty-handed.
