Blackburn : Julio Joined Roque....

Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz has been a name that’s been on Arsenal and Manchester United’s radar for much of the summer as a transfer target that could surely make a difference. After hearing this bit of news, every team tracking the Paraguayan ace might want to cross his name off their wish list.

Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince has signed up Julio Santa Cruz, the 18-year-old brother of striker Roque.

Ince has offered the free-agent striker, 18, a three-year contract. Spurs and Manchester rivals United and City have both been pursuing Roque, 26. But Blackburn hope he will stay at Ewood with help from his brother. Julio impressed ex-boss Mark Hughes in a trial last season and has done enough to shine for Ince.

Could this be Blackburn’s way of making sure their most important player stays for a while longer? After getting Santa Cruz for a bargain price, the club watched as he flourished in his first season at Ewood Park. Now with his brother at the club, you’d expect that this would mean any potential transfer move for Roque would be dead in the water.

What do Blackburn supporters think about the club moving to sign Roque’s brother to a three-year contract?
