Will Ince Get Something From Fowler...

I wonder if Robbie Fowler's potential return to the Premier League is a managerial masterstroke from Paul Ince or whether the Blackburn boss has simply run out of ideas.

Robbie Fowler's potential return to the Premier League is a managerial masterstroke from Paul Ince or whether the Blackburn boss has simply run out of ideas. Paul Ince has a reputation as being one of Britain's brightest young managers and has already been touted as a future Manchester United and England boss. However, has the pressure of his first Premier League role caused the manager to start losing the plot already?

Bringing Robbie Fowler to the club to help the striker regain fitness over the summer was one thing, but considering him as a striker next season is another, surely?

Saying that, he made an emotional return to the Premier League with Liverpool back in 2006 where he managed 10 goals in a season, although this was down to Benitez's rotation rather than a loss of form. So, could he do a job for Blackburn?

"When you've had an injury like Robbie's had, it's going to take time to get back up to speed again and I want to give him as much time as I possibly can," Ince said.

If he's not good enough, then he's not good enough - full stop. I can't afford to start doing old pals a favour because this is my first job as a Premier League manager. But if he gets himself sharp and fit, then I think we've got a very good player there," Ince said.

The ex-England international has scored over 200 goals in his career, but after a recurring hip injury in recent years, would Ince be mad in offering Robbie Fowler a Premier League lifeline this far down the line?

Well the first thing is that Fowler is 33 years old, second thing is that Fowler is fourth all time leading goal scorer in EPL history.

This may have been a shrewd move at Macclesfield or MK Dons, but with Blackburn expected to challenge for Europe next season should they be setting their sights a little higher than a player who managed just ten starts in the Championship last year?

Have the club done enough in the market this summer to ensure they build on last season's finish? Could Fowler do a job in the Premier League for Blackburn or is Ince running out of ideas before the season has even begun?
